Radar Overseer/Battle Advisor Roberto Salvatierra (often referred to as 'Bob') was a Bolivian who served in the United Speakonian Soviet Republic for many years as an advisor and friend to Rurik Stelarikov. Together with Nikolai Paranavsky, the three formed the face of the USSR for many years.
During the Psychic Dominator Disaster, Moscow came under siege by Yuri's forces. Bob, an expert pilot, volunteered to join the air force in the desperate defence of the city. A psychic dominator was activate long into the battle, obliterating a great deal of the defending forces and leaving Moscow open. Seeing this, Bob made his final call. Piloting a Kirov Airship, loaded with high explosives and packed with helium, he put the engines up to full and began a rapid descent towards the massed and advancing Yuri forces, giving one final message over the radio which now gives this page its quote.
The resulting explosion was devastating, and few of Yuri's forces survived. The defenders of Moscow were able to rout the remaining forces, but all that remained of the airship was a twisted, burning wreck. Bob had given his life, so that Moscow would stand.
His death was widely mourned in the USSR. Former friend and ally, Nikolai Paranavsky, was disillusioned with combat following the event, leading to his eventual retirement a few years later. Premier of the USSR, Rurik Stelarikov, used his death to fuel his vengeance against Yuri, vengeance he never quite managed to gain due to a sudden Scrin invasion.
Bob Salvatierra is, nonetheless, remembered fondly. He has a place in Leningrad at the Great Mausoleum of Heroes, one of the few to have no remains interred.
