OutLoud Text Reader is a text-to-speech program created by FairPlay137-TTS which aims to be a compatible, but modernized version of Speakonia. As of now, it only supports Microsoft SAPI 5 voices, but the developer aims to expand the list of supported engines in the future.

Overview[]

OutLoud Text Reader is easy to use for any user, regardless of skill level. In fact, Speakonia's user interface is very similar, right down to the keyboard shortcuts.

Speech engines currently supported[]

  • Natural Microsoft Sam
  • Natural Microsoft Mike
  • Natural Microsoft Mary
  • Microsoft Anna
  • Microsoft David Desktop
  • Microsoft Zira Desktop
  • Microsoft Hazel (British English)
  • Microsoft Mark Mobile (thru registry tweak)
  • Microsoft Eva Mobile (thru registry tweak)

Exporting as .WAV[]

Like Speakonia, you can export the spoken text as a .WAV file. The developer also plans to add .OGG exporting. Unlike in Speakonia, though, registration is not required for exporting spoken text as .WAV files.

Trivia[]

  • Many keyboard shortcuts in OutLoud line up with Speakonia's keyboard shortcuts.
  • The implementation of SSML is different than in Balabolka. The developer is hoping to fix this in future releases.
  • This is the first TTS text reader developed by a Microsoft Sam and his Fellow TTS Voices Wiki contributor (?).
  • The test for all voices is: "Test 1 2 3; this is (voice name)."
